World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is off to a good start and, going by the 2023 roadmap that outlines its content plans, Blizzard aims to capitalize on the expansion's momentum.
World of Warcraft: Dragonflight's 2023 roadmap targets a steady content cadence that includes two major patches with four smaller updates bridging the gap between them.
World of Warcraft: Dragonflight 2023 Roadmap
The goal is to have future updates available on the public test realm shortly after those in development are pushed to live servers.
If the developer pulls it off, this should ensure that spending time in the Dragon Isles (and potentially Azeroth as a whole) feels great throughout the year.
Some WoW: Dragonflight 2023 roadmap highlights include the expected addition of new zones and raids, which will be part of major patches, alongside a new megadungeon, orc and human heritage armor, new quests, and more.
WoW Patch 10.0.5
Release Date: January 24
WoW's patch 10.0.5 is slated to drop at some point during winter, going live at some point during the first months of 2023.
It introduces the Trading Post, which gives players a way to obtain additional cosmetic items, including some that are no longer available or only available on the premium store.
On top of that, it also adds the ability to transmog grey and white-quality items, giving your character a simpler, more humble look.
New world content in the Primalist Tomorrow area is also coming in WoW's patch 10.0.5, making for a neat little content infusion to spice up Season 1.
WoW Patch 10.0.7
Release Date: Spring 2023
Another smaller update on World of Warcraft: Dragonflight's 2023 roadmap, 10.0.7 is slated to bring with it a new quest campaign as well as repeatable world content in the Forbidden Reach.
It revolves around the new dracthyr race returning to its former prison and learning more about its origins and destiny.
This is also when Blizzard aims to set up Dragonflight's next big chapter, the developer noting that by the time we're done with the quests, "it should be obvious what our next destination must be."
WoW: Dragonflight's patch 10.0.7 also introduces quest lines for the long-awaited human and orc cosmetic heritage armor sets while also bringing Dragonriding updates, a new Furbolg faction, and more.
WoW Patch 10.1
Release Date: Between Spring and Summer 2023
World of Warcraft: Dragonflight's 10.1 update is the first major post-launch content drop on 2023's roadmap. It marks the start of Season 2, giving mythic+ and PvP enthusiasts more reasons to engage with those parts of the game.
The new Zaralek Cavern underground zone and Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible raid are also coming, alongside a refreshed mythic+ dungeon pool.
In addition, updates to the user interface improvements are also planned alongside the addition of Fyrakk Assaults, a new Dragonriding drake, and more.
WoW Patch 10.1.5
Release Date: Summer 2023
World of Warcraft: Dragonflight's 2023 roadmap then brings another pair of smaller updates. The first of them, Wow's patch 10.1.5, adds a new megadungeon.
As the name suggests, this is a larger dungeon that should have a fairly distinct theme, at least going by those introduced in past expansions.
In subsequent patches, it may or may not be split into two sections, allowing for running it without requiring a larger time commitment.
New world events alongside various content and system updates are also planned for this patch.
WoW Patch 10.1.7
Release Date: Fall 2023
World of Warcraft's update 10.1.7 then adds even more new story elements and quests, likely setting up the final major update on 2023's roadmap.
More tweaks to holidays are also planned alongside additional content and system updates.
WoW Patch 10.2
Release Date: Late 2023
World of Warcraft's 10.2 update marks the final step on Dragonflight's 2023 roadmap, being set to launch in late 2023.
The game's second major post-launch expansion brings with it a new zone and raid. It is also when Season 3 starts and the Mythic+ dungeon pool refreshes once more.
Other changes and additions are also planned and will be detailed closer to launch.
