Publisher Paradox Interactive and developer Triumph Studios today announced Age of Wonders: Planetfall - Star Kings as the 4X strategy game's third expansion.
Rounding off the post-launch offerings in Age of Wonders: Planetfall's Season Pass, Star Kings adds the new Oathbound faction whose story campaign sees players fighting for a united galaxy.
Similar to previous expansions, Age of Wonders: Planetfall - Star Kings will also be accompanied by a free update, bringing changes and additions to all owners of the base game.

Here is a series of features that Age of Wonders: Planetfall - Star Kings will introduce, as detailed in an emailed press release:
- New playable faction - The Oathbound: The Oathbound are a group of noble Paladins who pilot giant mechs and tear their foes apart with massive arc weapons imbued with lightning. The mythical Seers are the benevolent yet cunning leaders of the Oathbound that support their Paladin brethren in battle through their ability to see into the future from their connection with a mysterious computer system.
- New story campaign: Lead a courageous Paladin of the Oathbound on a mission to save all of mankind through the use of the mythical Grail Configuration. The journey leads players across the galaxy to the fabled planet of Union Prime where the Star Union was born and secrets long forgotten come to light.
- Grail Configurations: Powerful new landmark structures earned through multi-stage quests. These mysterious structures were created by an extinct race of crystal entities and are used for powerful long term bonuses that are integral in forging the biggest empires possible.
- Wildlife additions: Three new wildlife groups are joining the fray. The Psionica, vampire-like rock creatures that feed on psychic energy; the Apostates, former Oathbound that have given up their vows to embrace chaos; and the Mycelians, sentient mushrooms that have taken control of farming equipment to become cyborgs.
The free Triceratops update accompanying Star Kings will introduce the Galactic Empire system. Each planet you succesfully conquer is added to your Galactic Empire granting bonuses and new options that you can take advantage of during your next conquest.
The mode also adds secondary objectives to its planets, which not just grant your empire additional XP but can lead to conquering worlds quicker than usual.
The update will also allow players to requisition secret tech from different races in Age of Wonders: Planetfall, opening the way towards new combinations.
Residential Sectors will let you build outside the usual bounds of your cities, while the new Future Tech skill can be researched an unlimited number of times, granting an ever-increasing stacking bonus.
Age of Wonders: Planetfall - Star Kings is set to launch on November 10 and is headed to PC, Xbox One and PS4. Players will be able to pick it up for the price of $19.99 / £15.49 / €19.99 or as part of the game's Season Pass.
