The Royal Arms are the most powerful weapons in Final Fantasy XV, and while half of them can be obtained as part of the campaign the other half are hidden in the overworld map and are hard to find.

Final Fantasy XV Main Quest Royal Arms
As mentioned, half of the Royal Arms are received as quests as part of the main story, so it's pointless looking for them - they'll appear naturally as you play the game. They are:
- Sword of the Wise – Main quest: Legacy
- Axe of the Conqueror – Main quest: The Power of Kings
- Sword of the Wanderer – Main quest: The Sword in the Waterfall
- Blade of the Mystic – Main quest: The Archaean
- Katana of the Warrior – Main quest: The Hand of the King
- Trident of the Oracle – Main quest: Breath of the Glacian
- Sword of the Father – Main quest: A King’s Struggle
Final Fantasy XV Optional Royal Arms
Conversely, here are all the ones you'll need to find the Tombs of in the open world yourself:
- Shield of the Just – Thommels Glade
- Mace of the Fierce – Dungeon: Rock of Ravatogh
- Star of the Rogue – Dungeon: Myrlwood
- Scepter of the Pious – Dungeon: Malmalam Thicket
- Bow of the Clever – Dungeon: Balouve Mines
- Greatsword of the Tall – Dungeon: Costlemark Tower
Shield of the Just Location
Shield of the Just is located in a forest in Thommels Glade, west of the Cauthess Disc. It's the only Royal Arm not to be located in a Dungeon or have any requirements, so you can get it immediately. It's near Saxham Outpost, and watch out for the Coeurls nearby but otherwise this is the easiest one to get.
Mace of the Fierce Location
South-Westernmost point of the map, near Ravatoghan Trail - located in the The Rock of Ravatogh dungeon on the very left of the map above. Inside, take a right at the first branching path, then left at the next until you make it to a Haven. Continue down to the bird's nest, drop down to a large area, then look for a small path in the southern part of the area - this leads to the Tomb.
Star of the Rogue Location
Southwest of Vesperpool (very NW of the map) is the Myrlwood Dungeon. Nothing complicated here - progress through the Dungeon, beat the Treant, and you'll get access to the Tomb. Be around level 30-35 though.
Scepter of the Pious Location
Southwest, just next to Maidenwater, is the Malmalam Thicket dungeon. Progress through and you'll find the Tomb guarded by a Bandersnatch. It's weak against pole weapons, machinery and lightning. Kill it to claim the Scepter.
Bow of the Clever Location
Yes, this one's actually really close to Hammerhead in the opening area of the game, but don't be fooled - it's one of the toughest dungeons. It's in the Balouve Mines. Stop at the Parking Spot by the Callaegh Steps and head east, where you'll find the entrance. The Mines are actually quite maze-like. Take the elevator and exit one floor below, then continue on and go deeper every time. The boss is a level 52 Aramusha, and the only advice we can give is to take lots of Phoenix Downs and be ready to Parry every strike. Defeat it and you'll get the Bow - just don't attempt this early on.
Greatsword of the Tall Location
The toughest but also most interesting Royal Arm, this. The Tomb of the Tall is actually south of the right hand edge of the Cauthess Disc, roadside by The Fallgrove - but it's been looted. Vyv actually sends you here as part of a side-quest.
You'll be sent across the street to a strange ruin carved with runes, that you'll have to visit at night to see that they glow orange. The dungeon is in Costlemark Tower, at the rear of the courtyard, and only opens at night. Venture inside and progress through until you face the level 58 Jabberwock. It's weak to pole weapons, machinery and ice, but is still one of the toughest fights in the game. You might need to finish the story first before you take it on.
